.. CBM Award ..

Yep! I wanted to blog about this!

All glory & honor to my Lord Jesus Christ!

Last friday I received a pleasant news from my boss. A dept nominated me to receive this CBM award, which stands for "Country Business Manager" award. It's an award presented directly by my business group (Global Consumer Group) big boss, Mr JL. It was a real surprise, and I was indeed very encouraged by it.

(Apart from my netball achievements)

This is my 1st Citibank trophy. :)

The wording goes:
CBM Award
Elaine Chua
In appreciation of
Outstanding contribution towards
Online Acquisitions
9 Oct 2007

This really comes timely. My boss said this award will "add weight" to my year-end appraisal. Praise the LORD!

I'm really so glad to be able to shine for God in ways like these.

My career is indeed for His Kingdom & Glory. :)

More to come! By the grace of God, I hope to see myself achieving even more in the marketplace, for the marketplace, to penetrate into the marketplace!

.. 57cents church ..

Just thought of blogging this!

Received this email from ah li, thought it was really good & touching.. :)

Read on..

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded." "I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by. Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus.

Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements. As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump. Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School." For two years she had saved for this offering of love. When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion. He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building.

But the story does not end there...

A newspaper learned of the story and published It. It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands. When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents. Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide. Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250, 000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.

When you are in the city of Philadelphia , look up Temple Baptist Church, with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit Temple University, where thousands of students are educated. Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time. In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds".

This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.

You will be amazed how God can really move as we give our best to build His house. Not for anyone's glory, but for the glory of His Kingdom.

Arise & Build is coming. Let us always remember what are we building for. Not just a building to house the people. Indeed, it is about building lives. How the hearts will be changed & lives be transformed as we stretched our faith & trust God for His providence. How thousands upon thousands of people will be added to the Kingdom because of the sacrifices made by the people of God in this generation.

God is good.

He never short-changes.

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

Amen.

This weekend will be baby Samuel's dedication day to the LORD. Indeed he is God's gift to the family, and he belongs to God. May he grows up in the fear of the Lord, knowing Him, loving Him & serving Him all the days of his life.

Lord, I pray indeed Samuel will serve You in the days of his generation. God, he will be a strong & healthy boy, full with the wisdom & favor of God upon his life. May indeed the gifts & talents that You had placed upon his life be used greatly for Your Kingdom & Your glory.

We give my life to honor this

.. GOD is GOOD!! ..

Just wanna blog a short testimony to testify of God's wonderful goodness..

I invested some of my CPF funds on some unit trust in May last year. Lorrain was my advisor then, and she is someone whom I can really trust. :)

When I got home today, I received my quarterly statement (Jun - Sept) for the funds that I have. Guess what??

Within a span of about 1 and a half years, I had profited almost $10,000 now!! ($9833.15 to be exact).. GOD IS INDEED GOOD!! Praise the LORD!! =D

Indeed like what Pastor Kong says, with an open heaven over our lives, our investments will prosper! Hallelujah!

Hee.. I'm working towards fulfilling my Penthouse dream. :P

Indeed, when we can see it, we can have it!

God is good, all the time!
All the time, God is indeed very very GOOD!

:)

.. Saviour King ..

Verse 1
Let now the weak say I have strength
By the Spirit of power that raised Christ from the dead
Let now the poor stand and confess
That my portion is Him and I'm more than blessed

Pre-chorus
Let now our hearts burn with a flame
A fire consuming all for Your Son's holy name
And with the heavens we declare
You are our King

Chorus
We love You Lord, we worship You
You are our God, You alone are good

You asked Your Son to carry this
The heavy cross our weight of sin

I love You Lord, I worship You
Hope which was lost, now stands renewed
I give my life to honor this
The love of Christ, the Saviour King

Verse 2
Let now Your church shine as Your bride
That You saw in Your heart as You offered up Your life
Let now the lost be welcomed home
By the saved and redeemed those adopted as Your own

Ending
I give my life to honor this
The love of Christ, the Saviour King

.. Isaiah 55:8 ..

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine."

Fish 2

I really really want to testify of God's goodness. Pls have the patience to read this through!

This verse indeed came alive! Teethy

Last week was really an intense week in my office.

Due to human error, my dept suffered 2 losses, which added up to about 2 thousand dollars.

My manager was very very upset.. Guess she's in very difficult position too. Year end coming soon, and this will not help to position herself to "fight" for our increments & bonuses next year..

Then guess what?!!

Came a 3rd case! A customer wanted to purchase $30,000 worth of Unit Trust (UT) fund, but due to the "horrific"handwriting of the banker, my colleague perceived it as $80,000! The deal was authorised by another fellow colleague, and the deal was put through!..

The next day, this case was brought up as the customer wanted to subscribe another UT fund, but could not due to "insufficient" funds in his account. My heart nearly stopped as once again, it involved my team, and this could possibly resulted in yet another loss??...

We got a lashing from 1 of our team leaders. The difference of the price that day was 8 cents drop, and they calculated the loss was $4,000. She commented that if the dept kept on losing money like this, we can forget about our bonuses & increments next year! When I heard that, I bind that man! I told God this WILL not happen as I need the finances to fulfill the building fund that I'm going to pledge in this coming Arise & Build! I KNOW that indeed it shall not happen! God will provide.. He is Jehovah Jireh! :)

I gathered some Christian colleagues to pray together over this. We prayed that the price will go up the next day as the extra $50,000 UT fund could not be redeemed that day. By faith we claimed that the price will go up so that we could earn profit and even cover the amount of the previous losses we incurred. Wow! Ambitious faith right??

Guess what? The next day, I checked the system, the price dropped a further 1 cent! My heart dropped....... I called Shi Fu & told her..... "Drop leh... 1 cent.. sigh... hmmmm... there must be a purpose one... there must be a purpose!......"

I went to my team leader and told her the drop. I thought the loss was $4,500 by now.

Guess what?

Firstly. She told me. They (team leaders) actually counted the amount wrongly. Instead of $4,500, the loss was actually less than $500!! Wah, $500 only! That's a HUGE difference lor! I broke into laughter, but I was really really relieved.

I told Shi Fu about it, and we both flipped lor. Their wrong calculation gave us such a shock lor!.. :P

Anyway, then came the 2nd piece of good news. My team leader called up the branch banking manager (BBM) of that banker with that horrible hand-writing. If you know this BBM, she is well-known for being so nasty lo! But that day, she just seemed not to be herself and told my team leader that no problem, her branch will absorb that loss!.. Wow! I tell you, all my colleagues were stunningly shocked cos we all know how nasty she is!.. Yet now, she agreed to take responsibility over this??

My conviction: God can change the hearts of men. :)

So, at least, we can be a little relieved & "happier" cos the loss was covered...

Then, due to some FUNNY reason, that UT fund just could not be redeemed. Thus we don't really know the actual pricing per unit. Shi Fu knew that this delay must have a purpose one...

The price of that fund over that few days:

$10.03 (Tues)
$9.95 (Wed)
$9.94 (Thurs)
$10.02 (Friday)

The redemption deal was finally put through last Friday. The price will be based on coming Monday's rate. When we checked the price on Monday, it had shot up to $10.16! WoW! That's a lot! As a result, we earned a profit of nearly $700. At least helped to cover a partial of the loss we incurred earlier.

Today I checked the rate again. It was $10.06.

Can you see it?? Can you really see how PERFECT TIMING played such an important role in this whole incident??

I really believe that God was working throughout this whole saga because we seeked Him and prayed to Him.

I am really really encouraged. Felt so touched by the goodness of God. Indeed when we make mistakes, sometimes there is really NOTHING we can do to rectify anything. Some things are just OUT OF OUR CONTROL, just like this case. But GOD, saves the day. He is always in CONTROL. :)

I felt this whole thing opens my team leader's heart towards God. Today she came over & chatted with me. We were talking about this case. And I shared with her how much I really believe that God helped to turn the situation around. She agreed. I claim her salvation in the days ahead in Jesus' name. :)

Sometimes we pray. But prayers are not answered according to what we have prayed. We may get discouraged. Sometimes we wonder, God, Why? Why like that?

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine."

Friends, let us always learn to trust God no matter what situation we may be in. Let us always have faith that all things will indeed work out for good to those who love God.

He knows the perfect timing. And He knows what is BEST for us.
