P.O.D

Person of Destiny.

That's my vision for the year 2008.

Indeed, let it be a year where I will experience God in my life, a measure like never before.

A year where I will be where God wants me to be.

I'm full of HOPE.

Full of JOY.

Full of PEACE.

This assurance in my heart that God is with me, and will be with me throughout the year once again.

Thank God for 2007.

It's going to be a great year.

2008. Here I come!

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

.. Thanksgiving! ..

Last day of 2007. I really want to thank God for all the things that had happened this year.

It's great believing in God and putting my trust in Him.

Apart from some struggles & uneasiness in ministry aspect, I think this year has really been great. Felt my career has a good breakthrough. It's time to move on to somewhere else cos it's good to have a different exposure.

CHANGE. Necessary for Growth.

I want to increase my value in life. I believe I'm worth much more now in the marketplace. :)

So, praying that tis breakthrough is going to happen soon. :)

Had our subzone thanksgiving today. First attempt. I think it can be considered of certain standard! Ha. Apart from a MAJOR technical problem, the rest were pretty good. Of cos need to improve on the time allocation and also arrange for a chords stand and a pulpit. Think everything will be better then!

Anyway. I really love the pictures above. Took them today. Of cos, missing Victoria... hmmm.. W116 seldom can take a full picture together leh.. everytime is always missing this person, that person.. So many people serving on Sunday.. wanna meet for a meal together also very hard..

I really hope that we can have more quality fellowship in 2008..

I LOVE W116. :)

HOHOHO...

It's the time of the season again.. my favourite day of the year.

"Ah mei.. SAMUEL is here!..."

I opened my eyes.. saw my most adorable nephew looking & smiling at me! So I decided I shall not sleep anymore... get up & play with him! :)

Samuel is now 6 months old! Time really flies! Now he can sit steadily by himself. We're looking forward to see him crawling... and walking SOON in the days ahead!

He has got TASTY fingers!! :P

Samuel with a Santa Hat!
(Had a hard time trying to get him to look at the camera!)

Samuel is SOoooooOoooo cute right!!

Going for another Christmas service at JW later. Got to be so stressed again!.. Haha.. but think today should be better than yesterday. Well well.. That's why we need a BIGGER place!!

4 more services to go. Praying that this Christmas many will be touched by God's love & understand the true meaning of Christmas.

JESUS is indeed the REASON for this SEASON.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

.. Citibank ..

(Front row from left: Gwen, Christina, Yvonne, Mandy, Jaslin)
(Back row from left: Sue, ME!, Ee-Wei, Eddy, Derran)

Recently took a picture with my team during Christina's birthday and I think it is a nice picture! :)

Just came back from compliance leave on Monday and my team leader went on leave. So, once again, I got to stand in as her back-up & take care of the whole team's operation..

Last time I quite dread it cos the responsibility was really great and the team was rather problematic. We experienced "MC crisis" frequently, and many of the people were just not committed enough. With Serena's away, I got to cover more things... Sometimes I just preferred to be left alone & do my own work efficiently..

But, I thank God for changing my mind-set recently... For quite a while I felt a sense of being "short-changed" and taken for granted for the huge responsibility placed upon me. I'm just an "AS", but doing the work of an "AM"... At times just felt rather frustrated...

God spoke to me one day. I began to see it as a privilege. His favor & grace are indeed upon my life. What an opportunity it was in fact. The Bible says God will not allow us to go through something which we cannot handle. I did really learn a lot through all the experiences. If I just sat there doing my "normal" work, I knew, I will not learn as much as what I would had learnt than now...

People management is indeed not easy. Communication skills and relationship skills must be there. I felt there was a breakthrough this week between my team members and me. As I shared with them my views, they really co-operated and got the work done & target achieved. I was very encouraged. :)

Our boss sent us an email on Friday, praising us for our teamwork & spirit. In the past, AO Team was the most problematic team. Today, we were praised. :)

Short-changed or not, it doesn't matter anymore. Because, at the end of the day, God is good. He will reward according to the hard work that was sown.

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap."

I pray I will have a great testimony to share soon in the days to come.

You are faithful, You are faithful.
You are faithful, Your joy is my strength

.. Genting Trip 2007 ..

4 days of fun. Cool weather. Cold at night.

Had fun bargaining while shopping at KL's Chinatown.
(Cheaper! Cheaper! :P)

Ng had an unforgettable experience. Ask him, he will be glad to share with you. :)
All praise & glory to God for the smooth journey
& Ng managed to meet up with us in KL!

Alan is really a "crap-per".. At times really "buay tahan" him.. :P
But, i think the trip is fun also because of him.. haha..
Look at the pictures he took, you will know why.
Must give him credit though as he really takes care of the sisters..
Carrying our stuffs especially. A brother with manhood. :)
Anyway, conclusion is, balance is the key.
Be serious at the right time. :)

Shi Fu is always my best shopping partner! Hee..
Give her a title: The "Bargain" Queen
LOL..

For me, it's a good break lah, from the busy-ness of life.
Think will be fun to plan 1 again next year for the whole CG.
Hee.. Let's work towards that... :)

Here are "some" pictures we took!
(200++ photos!)

Uploaded some, will upload the rest again...
It takes ages to upload them man.... :P

.. A different type of Service ..

This week was Rev. Dr. Phil Pringle's week!

As usual my heart was full of expectancy as he is really a great man of God. His preaching & messages never fail to impact & inspire my life. Indeed he is really going from glory to glory. Every time he comes, he just leaves something behind.. A deep desire to want to know God more, & do more for Him.

But! This time, it was really a very different kind of service. Like what Dr Phil said, this was the 1st time he did it in a church! (Apart from Christian City Church obviously!).. So, CHC is really privileged! Thank God for that! :)

He painted as he preached!

He is indeed a great & anointed painter.

He shared 2 messages. He painted 2 pictures.

Sat Service: The 12 Disciples
12 disciples. 12 different types of personalities that speak of the different types of us. Yet, Jesus invited and accepted all of us. Something that he said and I learnt. There were some disciples whom were not even mentioned much in the bible! Like, Thaddaeus, Bartholomew.. etc. The disciple whom was known as the "doubting" Thomas. These disciples did not stand out the way Peter, James & John stood out. But, they were still among the disciples that Jesus had invited to dine & fellowship with Him. Together, the disciples brought forth the gospel, and today we can be saved because of the works that they had done.

Short message. More time was spent painting. As you can see, it is a BIG picture. :)

Sun Service: The works of the CROSS
Rev Phil preached on the 7 works of the Cross:

1. Set free from sin
- We are no longer bounded to the past mistakes & sins that we had committed. Jesus has set us FREE and we are FREE indeed!

2. Set free from sickness
- By His stripes, we are healed!

3. Set free from the devil
- We are victorious in life!

4. Set free from poverty
- Poverty is not for the children of God!
- Quote from Pastor Kong: We may start poor today.. but when we follow Jesus, we will prosper someday in this lifetime!

5. Set free from the curse of the law
- Read Deut 28. All the curses are turned into blessings because of the work of the CROSS!

6. Set free from self
- Christ is living in us!

7. Set free from the world!

2 simple messages. 2 great paintings. Hundreds responded to the altar call. I pray, may these souls remain & be rooted in CHC and discover their lives' purposes!

The CROSS is no power at all, until we make a CHOICE to commit to it. It's very true isn't it? Life is indeed about the choices that we will make. Make a choice to believe in the goodness of God & commit your life totally to Christ.

I had made the choice. :)

I will have a 2 weeks break from the office starting Monday! Yeah! Yeah!

Going to Genting next week.. need to go breathe some fresh air over there. Ha!

And who knows! I might get to encounter God since it's in the mountains and in the midst of the clouds! :P

.. CBM Award ..

Yep! I wanted to blog about this!

All glory & honor to my Lord Jesus Christ!

Last friday I received a pleasant news from my boss. A dept nominated me to receive this CBM award, which stands for "Country Business Manager" award. It's an award presented directly by my business group (Global Consumer Group) big boss, Mr JL. It was a real surprise, and I was indeed very encouraged by it.

(Apart from my netball achievements)

This is my 1st Citibank trophy. :)

The wording goes:
CBM Award
Elaine Chua
In appreciation of
Outstanding contribution towards
Online Acquisitions
9 Oct 2007

This really comes timely. My boss said this award will "add weight" to my year-end appraisal. Praise the LORD!

I'm really so glad to be able to shine for God in ways like these.

My career is indeed for His Kingdom & Glory. :)

More to come! By the grace of God, I hope to see myself achieving even more in the marketplace, for the marketplace, to penetrate into the marketplace!

.. 57cents church ..

Just thought of blogging this!

Received this email from ah li, thought it was really good & touching.. :)

Read on..

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded." "I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by. Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus.

Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements. As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump. Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School." For two years she had saved for this offering of love. When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion. He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building.

But the story does not end there...

A newspaper learned of the story and published It. It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands. When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents. Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide. Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250, 000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.

When you are in the city of Philadelphia , look up Temple Baptist Church, with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit Temple University, where thousands of students are educated. Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time. In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds".

This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.

You will be amazed how God can really move as we give our best to build His house. Not for anyone's glory, but for the glory of His Kingdom.

Arise & Build is coming. Let us always remember what are we building for. Not just a building to house the people. Indeed, it is about building lives. How the hearts will be changed & lives be transformed as we stretched our faith & trust God for His providence. How thousands upon thousands of people will be added to the Kingdom because of the sacrifices made by the people of God in this generation.

God is good.

He never short-changes.

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

Amen.

.. little Samuel's 1st flip! ..

YES!! Baby Samuel can now flip over to his side on his own! Look at his happy face! :) But he still cannot flip back yet.. so he will make some noise after a while and we got to help him.. Lol.. :P

He is sooooo adorable hor!! chubby chubby.. hee...

This weekend will be baby Samuel's dedication day to the LORD. Indeed he is God's gift to the family, and he belongs to God. May he grows up in the fear of the Lord, knowing Him, loving Him & serving Him all the days of his life.

Lord, I pray indeed Samuel will serve You in the days of his generation. God, he will be a strong & healthy boy, full with the wisdom & favor of God upon his life. May indeed the gifts & talents that You had placed upon his life be used greatly for Your Kingdom & Your glory.

We give my life to honor this
The love of Christ, the Saviour King

.. GOD is GOOD!! ..

Just wanna blog a short testimony to testify of God's wonderful goodness..

I invested some of my CPF funds on some unit trust in May last year. Lorrain was my advisor then, and she is someone whom I can really trust. :)

When I got home today, I received my quarterly statement (Jun - Sept) for the funds that I have. Guess what??

Within a span of about 1 and a half years, I had profited almost $10,000 now!! ($9833.15 to be exact).. GOD IS INDEED GOOD!! Praise the LORD!! =D

Indeed like what Pastor Kong says, with an open heaven over our lives, our investments will prosper! Hallelujah!

Hee.. I'm working towards fulfilling my Penthouse dream. :P

Indeed, when we can see it, we can have it!

God is good, all the time!
All the time, God is indeed very very GOOD!

:)

.. Saviour King ..

Verse 1
Let now the weak say I have strength
By the Spirit of power that raised Christ from the dead
Let now the poor stand and confess
That my portion is Him and I'm more than blessed

Pre-chorus
Let now our hearts burn with a flame
A fire consuming all for Your Son's holy name
And with the heavens we declare
You are our King

Chorus
We love You Lord, we worship You
You are our God, You alone are good

You asked Your Son to carry this
The heavy cross our weight of sin

I love You Lord, I worship You
Hope which was lost, now stands renewed
I give my life to honor this
The love of Christ, the Saviour King

Verse 2
Let now Your church shine as Your bride
That You saw in Your heart as You offered up Your life
Let now the lost be welcomed home
By the saved and redeemed those adopted as Your own

Ending
I give my life to honor this
The love of Christ, the Saviour King

.. Isaiah 55:8 ..

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine."

Fish 2

I really really want to testify of God's goodness. Pls have the patience to read this through!

This verse indeed came alive! Teethy

Last week was really an intense week in my office.

Due to human error, my dept suffered 2 losses, which added up to about 2 thousand dollars.

My manager was very very upset.. Guess she's in very difficult position too. Year end coming soon, and this will not help to position herself to "fight" for our increments & bonuses next year..

Then guess what?!!

Came a 3rd case! A customer wanted to purchase $30,000 worth of Unit Trust (UT) fund, but due to the "horrific"handwriting of the banker, my colleague perceived it as $80,000! The deal was authorised by another fellow colleague, and the deal was put through!..

The next day, this case was brought up as the customer wanted to subscribe another UT fund, but could not due to "insufficient" funds in his account. My heart nearly stopped as once again, it involved my team, and this could possibly resulted in yet another loss??...

We got a lashing from 1 of our team leaders. The difference of the price that day was 8 cents drop, and they calculated the loss was $4,000. She commented that if the dept kept on losing money like this, we can forget about our bonuses & increments next year! When I heard that, I bind that man! I told God this WILL not happen as I need the finances to fulfill the building fund that I'm going to pledge in this coming Arise & Build! I KNOW that indeed it shall not happen! God will provide.. He is Jehovah Jireh! :)

I gathered some Christian colleagues to pray together over this. We prayed that the price will go up the next day as the extra $50,000 UT fund could not be redeemed that day. By faith we claimed that the price will go up so that we could earn profit and even cover the amount of the previous losses we incurred. Wow! Ambitious faith right??

Guess what? The next day, I checked the system, the price dropped a further 1 cent! My heart dropped....... I called Shi Fu & told her..... "Drop leh... 1 cent.. sigh... hmmmm... there must be a purpose one... there must be a purpose!......"

I went to my team leader and told her the drop. I thought the loss was $4,500 by now.

Guess what?

Firstly. She told me. They (team leaders) actually counted the amount wrongly. Instead of $4,500, the loss was actually less than $500!! Wah, $500 only! That's a HUGE difference lor! I broke into laughter, but I was really really relieved.

I told Shi Fu about it, and we both flipped lor. Their wrong calculation gave us such a shock lor!.. :P

Anyway, then came the 2nd piece of good news. My team leader called up the branch banking manager (BBM) of that banker with that horrible hand-writing. If you know this BBM, she is well-known for being so nasty lo! But that day, she just seemed not to be herself and told my team leader that no problem, her branch will absorb that loss!.. Wow! I tell you, all my colleagues were stunningly shocked cos we all know how nasty she is!.. Yet now, she agreed to take responsibility over this??

My conviction: God can change the hearts of men. :)

So, at least, we can be a little relieved & "happier" cos the loss was covered...

Then, due to some FUNNY reason, that UT fund just could not be redeemed. Thus we don't really know the actual pricing per unit. Shi Fu knew that this delay must have a purpose one...

The price of that fund over that few days:

$10.03 (Tues)
$9.95 (Wed)
$9.94 (Thurs)
$10.02 (Friday)

The redemption deal was finally put through last Friday. The price will be based on coming Monday's rate. When we checked the price on Monday, it had shot up to $10.16! WoW! That's a lot! As a result, we earned a profit of nearly $700. At least helped to cover a partial of the loss we incurred earlier.

Today I checked the rate again. It was $10.06.

Can you see it?? Can you really see how PERFECT TIMING played such an important role in this whole incident??

I really believe that God was working throughout this whole saga because we seeked Him and prayed to Him.

I am really really encouraged. Felt so touched by the goodness of God. Indeed when we make mistakes, sometimes there is really NOTHING we can do to rectify anything. Some things are just OUT OF OUR CONTROL, just like this case. But GOD, saves the day. He is always in CONTROL. :)

I felt this whole thing opens my team leader's heart towards God. Today she came over & chatted with me. We were talking about this case. And I shared with her how much I really believe that God helped to turn the situation around. She agreed. I claim her salvation in the days ahead in Jesus' name. :)

Sometimes we pray. But prayers are not answered according to what we have prayed. We may get discouraged. Sometimes we wonder, God, Why? Why like that?

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine."

Friends, let us always learn to trust God no matter what situation we may be in. Let us always have faith that all things will indeed work out for good to those who love God.

Forsaking
All
I
Trust
Him

He knows the perfect timing. And He knows what is BEST for us.

Amen.

.. Here in my life ..

New song.. Great song!

I have never walked on water
Felt the waves beneath my feet but
At Your word Lord, I’ll receive Your
Faith to walk on oceans deep

And I remember how You found me
In that very same place
All my failing surely would've drowned me
Still You made a way

You are my freedom
Jesus You’re the reason
I’m kneeling again at Your throne
Where would I be without You
Here in my life, here in my life?

You have said that all the heavens
Sing for joy at one who finds but
The way to freedom, truth of Jesus
Bought from death into His life

And I remember how You saw me
Through the eyes of Your grace
And though the cost was Your beloved for me
Still You made a way!

.. last combined CGM for W116 & W143 ..

Times flies! After combining CGs since Apr 2007, it's time to part, and a new CGL to arise! :)

I'm believing God for GREATER days ahead for the both CGs. In fact, today's svc Pastor Kong asked us to write our heart's desires on the offering envelope as we gave.

This was what I wrote:
"Lord, I want my members to experience Your awesome move in their lives more than ever before. They will commit 100% of their lives to You. They will be so BLESSED!"

I believe God will indeed answer this prayer & move in the lives of His people mightily.

Here were some pictures we took!

Sharing their lives' testimony... How God had changed their lives since coming to church!

We have these precious ones sharing...

Food cannot finish?
No problem.

All food cleared as the people expanded their stomachs.
Sisters cleared the garlic breads.
Brothers cleared the pizza.
Thanks everyone for the sporting spirit!

So guys, let's believe God for greater days ahead of us. With 3 months remaining in 2007, indeed the latter shall be better than the beginning. Let's do all we can to grow the CGs. Let's be fruitful in all apects of our lives!

Looking forward to hear many more great testimonies of great results from the students!

Financial blessings for all as we get ready for Arise & Build!

Fruitfulness in everyone's lives!

Yeah! Every good gift & every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights.

JESUS YOU REIGN! :)

.. players in prayers ..

This picture was taken during the Citibank Sports event this year. We took part in the netball comp, thought that we will lose the few matches during the quarter-finals as many key players were not available! But praise really be to God, we won the 3 quarter-final matches against ITO, GWM & CMB (the toughest match of all!), we won the semi-final and proceed to play for 1st & 2nd placing! That was already a great achievement, considering we only had 8 players, no seasoned players, and no shooters! :P

Anyway, though we lost to IPB in the finals, we had a good game, a great fellowship and "colleague-ship" bonding. :)

Praise be to GOD for all His GOODNESS & GREATNESS! :)
